Fig Pinwheels

Ingredients

1 cup fig, put through food chopper
1/4 cup water
1 cup sugar, divided
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Combine chopped figs, water, and 1/2 cup sugar. Cook until thick. Cool. Fold in nuts. Cream butter, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, and brown sugar. Mix in egg. Sift flour, soda, and salt and add to first mixture. Roll on floured board or cloth. Spread with fig mixture; roll up like jellyroll. Chill. Cut in slices and bake at 400° for 12 minutes.
