Date Loaf Candy

Ingredients

1/2 cup milk
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup broken pecans

Directions:

In saucepan, boil milk, sugar, and butter to 240°, or until mixture forms soft ball in cold water. Remove from heat and add dates and vanilla. Heat until dates melt. Add pecans and beat until cool. Pour onto wet cheesecloth and form a ball or log. Let cool and unroll from cheesecloth. Slice candy roll or log every 1/2 inch or so.
