Swiss Fondue

Ingredients

1 cup chicken broth
1 clove garlic bruised
2 1/2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup chicken broth
1 French bread

Directions:

In top of double boiler but over direct heat, heat 1 cup broth (may substitute with white grape juice) with garlic until very hot remove garlic. Place pan over boiling water. Add Swiss cheese stir constantly until cheese is melted. (At this point, cheese may not be thoroughly combined with liquid.) Combine cornstarch, salt, Worcestershire sauce, white pepper, and nutmeg with 1/3 cup cold chicken broth (or grape juice). Stir into cheese mixture. (When cornstarch is added, cheese will combine with liquid for smooth blend.) Continue heating and stirring until smooth and hot. Serve over slices of French bread or from chafing dish with cubes of French bread to dip into it.
