Cinnapucks, Shofars, and 69 People for Easter Dinner

We gathered as a family at my sister Kim’s house for Easter dinner last Sunday. There were 69 people there. Yes…69. 😄

Kim had to cook three huge hams plus one small, gluten free one, and everyone else brought something to share. Kathy’s Biscoff Milk Cake was to die for (click here for the recipe)...

The veggie tray shaped like a bunny was cute.

And, she made two 7-layer salads that disappeared fast.

My daughter, Brennah (our professional chef… and your amazing Cook’n tech support agent), spent hours creating two stunning Easter cake rolls.

And then… missed the entire dinner. 😄

Between a brand new baby, a two-hour drive, and a full freeway shutdown, she didn’t make it.

She did send us a photo of her masterpiece (click here for the recipe)… which somehow made us feel both grateful and a little sad at the same time. 😄

Even my nephew Apollo got in on the action but...let’s just say things didn’t go exactly as planned. 😄

The yeast didn’t cooperate, the Cinnamon Rolls didn’t rise, and what came out of the oven looked a lot more like hockey pucks than pastries.

Naturally, we renamed them… Cinnapucks. 😂

But honestly, this ended up being one of our favorite moments of the day.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about perfect food… it’s about family, laughter, and making memories together.

After dinner, we all texted him to thank him for the “Cinnapucks.” 😂

But before we ate, something really special happened.

My sister Teri and her husband Ken taught us about the Passover tradition and shared a Seder meal with us.

We started by walking and waving palm branches to sympolize victory, peace, and honor. Apparently, this is a tradition which begins with a procession where worshippers march carrying palms and echoing the cheers of "Hosanna."

Teri & Ken explained the meaning behind each part of the experience and even blew the shofar. The sound gave us chills!

At one point, my brother couldn’t resist and said, “Sho far sho good.”

That pretty much sums up our family.

One of Those Days You Never Want to End

After that, we ate, talked, laughed, and just enjoyed being together.

The weather was beautiful. The food was incredible. The spirit in the home was even better.

At one point, I caught myself feeling a little sad that the day was coming to an end.

You know those days.

The ones that feel like a little slice of heaven.

Why This Matters

Easter is a reminder of everything that matters most.

Family. Forgiveness. Second chances.

I’m so grateful for the Savior’s example, His sacrifice, and the hope that comes because He lives.

And One More Thing…

Moments like this are exactly why we built Cook’n.

To help families gather, share, remember, and stay connected around food.

That’s also why we created the Cook’n Family Plan.

Right now, you can add 4 additional memberships for just $10 each, so your whole family can cook, share recipes, and build something meaningful together.

This Easter promotion ends Sunday, so don’t miss it.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter.

God bless,

Dan
