You NEED This Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe!

In a past article, I mentioned that one of my favorite places to grab a treat is Crumbl cookie. Their cookies are GIANT (my husband and I can easily split one), and they are the perfect texture! Crispy on the outside, but super soft and chewy and gooey on the inside! Plus, they have such a great flavor. I can be pretty picky about the flavor of my chocolate chip cookies- I want to taste the butter and the flour, but not too much of either- and of course, we must have the perfect ratio of chocolate chips to cookie ;).

Well, my mom shared a recipe that she said might even top Crumbl, and I think she's wrong- it TOTALLY tops Crumbl, or any cookie I've had. It's my new addiction, and I have to be really careful about when I make this recipe because I have no self-control with these cookies- which means it's a great time to be my neighbor when I make them ;).

These cookies are actually super easy to make- there's no special process you have to endure to make them more tasty- they're just perfect how they are. The only thing different from my typical chocolate chip cookie recipe is that you are going to use chilled butter and chop it up. This way you don't have to wait for the dough to chill in the fridge (although you can if you want!), and your cookies won't spread out into flat pancakes- they'll still hold their beautiful and delicious shape.

You'll also need to let them sit for at least 10 minutes after baking, otherwise your cookies will not hold their shape, because these cookies are BIG. Like, you can only fit 4 on a pan big. This recipe only makes 8 cookies- but that is plenty for a big group! You can easily split a cookie between 2 people.... If you're in a sharing mood ;). You could try and make the cookies smaller, but you'll definitely be messing with the texture- which is one of the best things about this cookie! So just don't do it ;).

These also freeze wonderfully! I stuck a bunch in the freezer, and they're actually great to have on hand! Because they're so big, you can easily wrap one in plastic wrap and tie it with a ribbon and it makes a great quick little gift, without assembling a whole plate of cookies. The 1 cookie alone is definitely impressive enough to stand on its own!

The original recipe calls for chocolate chips and walnuts....and I'm just not a fan of nuts in my baked goods. So I actually omitted the walnuts and put in 1 cup of white chocolate chips instead- and I definitely have no regrets. I actually think it would be fun to experiment with this recipe to create all kinds of concoctions! Chopped Heath bars or Oreos, M&M's or Reeses pieces, dark chocolate chunks or white chocolate chips with craisins- I feel that this dough would be the perfect base for any of these delicious add-ins!

Now I'm craving cookies :).

Serving size: 8
Calories per serving: 1,034

Ingredients:
1 cup cold butter cut into small cubes
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups cake flour *can substitute with regular flour
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cornstarch
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups walnuts roughly chopped

Directions:
Preheat oven to 410 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together cold cubed butter, brown sugar, and sugar for 4 minutes or until creamy.

Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one.

Stir in flours, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined to avoid overmixing. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Separate dough into large balls and place on lightly colored cookie sheet. They are bigger than you think! You will fit 4 cookies on one large cookie sheet. The dough makes 8 extra large cookies.

Bake for 9-12 minutes or until golden brown on the top. Let them rest for at least 10 minutes to set.

*I omitted the walnuts and did milk and white chocolate chips and they were amazing!!
