Elf Magic Scan Makes it Easier Than Ever to Import Recipes into Cook’n!
Getting recipes into Cook’n has never been easier.
In December, we released a major Cook'n Desktop App upgrade for PC & Mac computers with a new, mind-blowing Magic Scan feature. This past week, we added that feature to Cook'n for iOS!

With the new Elf Magic Scan feature in the Cook’n iPhone and iPad app, the Cook’n Elves can automatically turn almost anything into a beautifully formatted recipe in your cookbook.
Whether you have a printed or handwritten recipe, a screenshot, a PDF, or even recipe text copied from an email, the Cook’n Elves do the hard work for you. See screen recording below...

Import Printed or Handwritten Recipes
Have an old recipe card, handwritten family favorite, or cookbook page?
- Open Cook’n.
- Tap More on the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Scan.
- Choose Camera.
- Take a photo of the recipe.
- Tap Submit.
The Cook’n Elves will read the photo and automatically create a recipe in your cookbook.
Import Recipe Screenshots
Found a recipe online and took screenshots?
- Open Cook’n.
- Tap More -> Scan.
- Choose Photo Library.
- Select your first screenshot.
- If the recipe spans multiple screenshots, tap the Camera icon in the upper-right corner to add additional images.
- Tap Submit.
The Cook’n Elves will combine all screenshots and import the recipe automatically.
Import Recipe Text from Email or Websites
If you can copy the recipe text, you can import it.
- Copy the recipe text from an email, website, or note.
- Open Cook’n.
- Tap More -> Scan.
- Choose Clipboard.
- Tap Submit.
The copied text will be pasted into Cook’n and converted into a fully formatted recipe.
Import Recipes from PDF Files
Downloaded a recipe as a PDF?
- Open Cook’n.
- Tap More -> Scan.
- Choose PDF Document.
- Select your PDF file.
- Tap Submit.
The Cook’n Elves will extract the recipe and save it to your cookbook.
