Is Kalani Leaving BYU???
During church last Sunday, I got an urgent phone call from...let's just say...a family member. I texted and said I was in church. The person said to call as soon as I got out.
After church, I got word that BYU's head coach (and my nephew but more like a brother) Kalani Sitake was leaving BYU for Penn State and they explained all the reasons why! He was signing papers today!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Shortly thereafter, the news started leaking out...
Penn State's offer currently on the table for BYU's Kalani Sitake is rumored to be in the 6 year, $11m per year range. pic.twitter.com/Q3dXXeDWQi

So the situation is crazy fluid. Both sides seem to be angry but also think they can either retain or hire him away.

Sentiments from Happy Valley are that if BYU wasn’t playing this week, he’d be at Penn State talking.
Sitake being in Provo right now has caused issues for them. https://t.co/3J1dbOpWCe

This is like when you spend more to get more cash back on your credit card.

BYU can give Kalani a raise and get 10% cash back.
Confirming what @Blutman27 reported: Penn State is heavily in the hunt for Kalani Sitake.

Multiple sources say BYU boosters went past AD Brian Santiago to the Church, with Ronald Rasband involved in retention efforts
Main issue appears to be tension between Sitake and Santiago. pic.twitter.com/IpifADdMB7
I'm hearing that a contract has been proposed and agreed to by both BYU and Kalani Sitake.

It is conditional on President Oaks/the Board of Trustees approving it.
Will update with more when I have it. https://t.co/n5Xfjx20KD pic.twitter.com/CKNgIwpgge

The top 10 teams in the nation will advance and play in the College Football Playoffs. But, shockingly, BYU is ranked #11 by the "Selection Committee." This is a huge injustice because BYU's record is better than several teams ahead of them. And, they played a tougher regular season schedule than the teams ahead of them. BYU's only loss is to #4 Texas Tech! They should totally be in the playoffs!
Santa...say it isn't so!!!

Me: How about a Ferrari Daytona SP3?
Santa: Come on, be serious.
Me: Okay… how about the committee using the actual facts to put 11–1 BYU, whose only loss was to #5 Texas Tech, into the playoffs?
Santa: … What color Ferrari?
“The best way to think about the CFP rankings is that this is a group of people that decides which teams they like, and then they retroactively come up with reasons for each of them. …

Since all Conference Champions get an automatic bid in the College Football Playoffs, there's still a chance. If BYU wins tomorrow, they will be in. But, if they lose, they're out...which is criminal.
In the history of college football, no Power 4 team with 11 wins and only 1 loss has ever been ranked outside the top 10...EVER!
BYU should be in the College Football Playoff.

-11-1 in a Power 4 Conference Champ Game
-#6 Strength of Record
-T-Most wins over teams with a winning record
-Better SOS than Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Miami
Wins and loses matter.

For the first time in history, the Conference Championship game between BYU and Texas Tech tomorrow is sold out!
Sources: The Big 12 title game between No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 11 BYU at AT&T Stadium is sold out. The attendance is on-track to be the biggest in Big 12 title game history, breaking the 2023 record of 84,523. pic.twitter.com/Ua02D8W2At
