Is Kalani Leaving BYU???

During church last Sunday, I got an urgent phone call from...let's just say...a family member. I texted and said I was in church. The person said to call as soon as I got out.

After church, I got word that BYU's head coach (and my nephew but more like a brother) Kalani Sitake was leaving BYU for Penn State and they explained all the reasons why! He was signing papers today!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Shortly thereafter, the news started leaking out...

But, when word got out, it caused quite an uproar in Cougar Nation!

My phone started blowing up with text messages!

Some of the fans came up with some creative ideas of ways to match Penn State's offer. For example, notice the following modification to the church tithing donation slip...

Since members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are often called to serve 2-year unpaid missions for the Church, some of the fans thought this might be a good idea. After all...who could turn down a mission call from the Prophet?!!

Since members of the church pay 10% in tithes and offerings, someone pointed out that any increase in pay by the Church to Kalani would come with 10% cash back. 😂

Businessmen in the local community came together to see if they could find a way to help keep Kalani

Businesses started getting creative!

Then word came out!! Do these boys love their coach or what?!!

In case you are not aware, BYU won their last game against UCF. As a result, they are now 11 and 1 and they are going to play against #4 Texas Tech in the Conference Championship game tomorrow.

The top 10 teams in the nation will advance and play in the College Football Playoffs. But, shockingly, BYU is ranked #11 by the "Selection Committee." This is a huge injustice because BYU's record is better than several teams ahead of them. And, they played a tougher regular season schedule than the teams ahead of them. BYU's only loss is to #4 Texas Tech! They should totally be in the playoffs!

Santa...say it isn't so!!!

Since all Conference Champions get an automatic bid in the College Football Playoffs, there's still a chance. If BYU wins tomorrow, they will be in. But, if they lose, they're out...which is criminal.

In the history of college football, no Power 4 team with 11 wins and only 1 loss has ever been ranked outside the top 10...EVER!

It's all about the $$. The committee put bigger names ahead of BYU like Alabama and Notre Dame because they think those schools will draw bigger audiences...but they're mis-underestimating the BYU fan base! Check this out...what?

For the first time in history, the Conference Championship game between BYU and Texas Tech tomorrow is sold out!

Listen to this! The Committee didn’t even consider if BYU wins this Saturday...that's cuz they worked out a deal with the refs to "ensure" that BYU doesn't win this game against Texas Tech. Kalani better leave no doubt on the scoreboard. The refs won’t be easy on us.

In case you missed it...here is the behind-the-scenes footage of BYU's last game against UCF. Enjoy! Go Cougs!
