Ingredients

4 apples (Gala, Braeburn, Fuji, Honey Crisp, or other similary firm fleshed apple)
1 cup apple juice
1/4 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 strips orange zest 1/2 inch thick (you can use a potato peeler or small paring knife)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thoroughly wash, and then core apples, leaving bottom in tact. Place in small baking dish. Combine apple juice, honey, cinnamon, and orange zest. Whisk to dissolve honey. Pour over apples, spooning some into the center of each. Cover with aluminum foil and bake about 11/4 to 11/2 hours until tender. Start checking after 1 hour to test for doneness. Serve hot or cold, in a bowl, with the syrup poured over and around them. Personally, I like them hot with vanilla rice dream frozen dessert, or cold just as is.
