Lazy Cherry Cobbler

Ingredients

2 (20-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
1/2 (20-ounce) can water
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup skim milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°. Combine cherries, water, and almond extract. Mix well. Place in ungreased 9x13-inch baking pan. In a mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients and mix well. Add milk and stir until well mixed. Pour evenly over cherries. Then run a knife through the mixture as if marbleizing. Bake 40–50 minutes, until golden brown.

Options: Use reduced-sugar pie filling. Use other fruits such as blueberries. To make an 8x8-inch pan, use one can of fruit and 1/4 cup water, 3/4 cup self-rising flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup milk. Bake at 375° for about 35 minutes.
