Cabbage Patch Soup

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds hamburger or ground beef
3 medium onions, sliced thin
2 medium stalks celery, chopped
1 (16-ounce) can tomato
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 (15-ounce) cans pinto beans, drained, rinsed
1/2 - 1 cup chopped bell pepper
1 1/2 quarts water
3 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups coarsely chopped cabbage

Directions:

Brown hamburger. Pour off fat. Rinse to remove fat. Add onions, celery, tomatoes, tomato sauce, beans, bell pepper, and water. Add seasonings. Cook 15 minutes. Add cabbage last, and cook until cabbage is tender, 10–15 minutes. More water may be added to make soup the desired thickness. Add more or less seasoning to suit your taste.
