Cream Cheese Fudge Brownies

Ingredients

Batter:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coconut
1 cup pecans
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Filling:
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

For Batter:
Mix in order given. Spread 1/3 of Batter in greased 9x13-inch pan. Spoon Cream Cheese Filling over it. Spoon remaining Batter over Cream Cheese Filling. Spread carefully. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

For Cream Cheese Filling:
Cream cheese and butter together. Add sugar, a spoonful at a time. Mix well. Add egg, flour, and vanilla. Stir until mixed well.
