Traditional Potatoes and Gravy


Serves: 10

Ingredients

10 to 12 medium russet potatoes, peeled and diced
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup half and half or milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 (12-ounce) jars chicken or beef gravy

Directions:

In a large soup pan, cover potatoes with water. Boil 20–25 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Drain water, then add butter, half-and-half, salt, and pepper. Mash with a potato masher or mix with an electric mixer.

In a separate saucepan, warm gravy over low heat. Serve potatoes with gravy immediately. Makes 10–12 servings.

VARIATION: Add 3/4 cup fresh chopped parsley or chives.
