Old-Fashioned Root Beer Float

Yield: 8 - 10

Ingredients

1 gallon vanilla ice cream
2 (1-liter) bottles root beer

Directions:

Scoop 2 scoops ice cream into glass mugs or other tall glasses and pour root beer over. Serve with a spoon-straw (or an iced tea spoon and a straw).

This is also fun to chunk the ice cream into a punch bowl and pour root beer on top, then serve in punch cups. This will serve 12–16.

Editor's Extra: Use other flavors of ice cream and carbonated drinks. A Purple Cow is grape juice with ice cream. Or try chocolate ice cream with Coke. And Sprite goes well over lime sherbet for a refreshing summer drink.
