Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

Infused with richly flavored browned butter, these chocolate chip cookies are chewy and soft just the way they should be. I think theyíre the very best cookies youíll ever eat. You can even make them without a mixer.

Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, cubed
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Sea salt, optional

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. In a small heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Heat 5-7 minutes or until golden brown, stirring constantly. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Let cool 10 minutes.

Beat brown sugar, sugar and browned butter in a large bowl until blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets.

Bake until set and edges begin to brown, 10-12 minutes. Cool on pans 5 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with sea salt. Remove to wire racks to cool.
