Behind the Scenes at Cook’n… and a Warning I Hope You’ll Never Need

First, thank you to everyone who participated in the survey that I included in the last Cook'n newsletter! The votes are still coming in, but I wanted to share the results so far.

Apparently, most people really like the new Category Search feature. We're so happy to hear it!

Your feedback is super helpful—thank you! And a huge shoutout to the Cook’n Elves for working so diligently to make Cook’n the best it can be.

I’m especially excited about a mind-blowing new feature the Elves are working on right now. I can’t wait to announce it! Honestly, I’ve never been great at keeping secrets... but I’ll try. 😅

Let’s just say this magical new feature is a total game-changer, and I think the Cook’n Family is going to go NUTS when they see it.

A Personal Story That Could Save You Thousands

Now, on a completely unrelated—but very important—note, I feel inspired to share a suggestion with you and the rest of our Cook’n Family:

Get a dash cam for your car. Seriously.

This is the one I bought for all our family vehicles (but there are many to choose from, so find one you like and go for it).

My son Andan, who’s currently serving a mission in Mexico, and his friend were in a serious car accident not too long ago. They were exiting the freeway when another car ran a red light and collided with them.

The other driver—an adult woman without insurance—claimed that Andan had run the red. Without video footage, it would’ve been her word against his... and at 17 years old, he probably would’ve lost that argument.

When I asked the police officer what they were going to do, he shrugged and said, “Ahhh... we’ll just let the insurance companies fight it out.” But since she didn’t have insurance, there wouldn’t have been a fight.

Thankfully, the dash cam saved us.

The footage clearly showed that she ran the red and Andan was not at fault.

This is the truck Andan was driving...

This is the car the other lady was driving...

That little dash cam turned out to be the best $36 I ever spent.

It’s cheap, easy to install—just plug it into your car’s cigarette lighter and suction it behind the rearview mirror—and it gave us clear, undeniable proof.

Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late

A buddy of mine saw the camera in my car recently and asked about it. I shared the story and encouraged him to get one. He didn’t take my advice... and now he regrets it.

A short time later, he was in an accident. A girl making a right turn out of a Domino’s parking lot hit him after running a red light. But without any video evidence, the police found him at fault for failing to yield.

Now he’s dealing with the fallout—and he finally bought a dash cam. He just wishes he had done it sooner.

Grateful for Protection

In case you’re wondering: thankfully, neither Andan and his friend nor the other driver was seriously hurt. Andan did suffer a concussion that impacted his senior year of football, and he still has headaches from time to time… but it could have been much, much worse.

We’re incredibly grateful to Heavenly Father for protecting him.

Thanks again for being part of the Cook’n Family. I can’t wait to share more about the amazing new Cook'n feature we’re working on. In the meantime, I hope this little tip brings peace of mind to someone out there—because protecting the people we love matters, whether it's in the kitchen or on the road.
