How to Save the Same Recipe to Two Cookbooks

QUESTION:

Can I save the same recipe to two different cookbooks - eg: my own cookbook and then my extended family cookbook? How?

ANSWER:

Yes, you can! Right-click on the recipe and click "Duplicate". Once you've done that, click and drag the copy you just made to the cookbook you want it to be in.

However, while we make it super easy to do this, we strongly recommend AGAINST doing this. I can see why you might want to do it in this case because you have your own personal cookbook and your extended family cookbook. So, this is totally up to you. However, in general, we recommend against this because it is a bad practice to have duplicate recipes in your database.

We tend to tweak recipes each time that we make them. We also make editing changes and we find and correct other mistakes as well. If your recipes are duplicated, you will most likely make changes to one only which could lead to confusion and frustration. Also, if you search your recipe database for a particular recipe, it can be confusing when more than one appears in your search results.

Instead, we recommend creating Categories. When you use the Category feature in Cook'n, you can put one recipe into MANY different categories. This is a much better way to organize them than duplicating your recipes. Watch this demo video to see how to use the Category feature in Cook'n:
