How Do You Use Collagen Peptides?


It’s one thing to know something is good for you. It’s a completely different issue to know how to get it in your diet!

A couple weeks ago I wrote about collagen peptides and the many health benefits they offer. I was so excited to see Costco had a coupon on the Vital Proteins brand this month! If you’re looking for an affordable way to get some collagen, Costco is the place to go!


While we can talk all day about the health benefits that collagen offers, what’s not so easy to figure out is how to consume your collagen. I mean, sure we could just mix it with water and gulp it down- but where’s the fun in that? I like flavor! And since you’re here with our Cook’n family, I think it’s safe to say that you do too!

If you want to take collagen but need some ideas on how to incorporate it into your meals, here are some ideas:

Add to a protein shake. If you’re already mixing protein powder, just add a scoop of collagen as well!

Mix into yogurt. Give it a nice little stir and voila! Collagen-infused yogurt.

Add to your fruit smoothie. A green smoothie is already full of health benefits- why not add one more?

Mix with hot chocolate. Maybe a little less healthy.. But certainly delicious!

Add to your morning cup of juice. Tangy and tasty!

Add to your daily cup of coffee or tea. If you’re drinking it anyway, this is an easy way to get that collagen!

Bake into cookies! Then you can have “healthy” cookies, right? ;). Just add a scoop to your favorite recipe!

Bake homemade bread. Again, just add a scoop of collagen to your favorite recipe! You can really add collagen to any of your favorite baked goods!

Sprinkle it into your oatmeal. Mix it in and you’ll have protein-fortified oatmeal for breakfast!

Add to soup. There’s already so many things you’re mixing in…. What’s one or two scoops of collagen?

Scramble it with eggs. Another healthy protein source that you can take to the next level!

Mix it in with pancakes. I struggle serving pancakes for breakfast because of the lack of protein- but adding some collagen powder to the mix definitely solves this dilemma!

So many options! The good news- it doesn’t matter how you’re taking your collagen- as long as you’re taking it! So drink it, eat it, mix it- you can take your collagen however you want and enjoy all the health benefits it has to offer!
