Clever Ways to Simplify Kitchen Work and Increase Organization

Every once in a while I run on to kitchen tools that simplify life and/or increase organization. Below are a few that are worth serious consideration. All can be found on amazon.com. See what you think.

EXPANDABLE DRAWER DIVIDERS: I’ve been known to spend hours in the aisles of the Container Store. I can’t help it if I like every nook and cranny in my home to be well organized! I bought a few of these adjustable drawer dividers for my kitchen drawers, and I love them! You can completely customize the size of each slot.

CITRUS SPRAYER: Spray fresh lemon juice right out of a lemon? What?! Yes, and even limes, grapefruit, oranges, and other citrus! This is great for salads, fish, shrimp, etc. You can also spray your unused avocado halves with it to keep them from browning.

GARLIC PEELER: If you use a lot of garlic in your meal prepping, then here’s the easiest way to do it. This tool’s unique shape keeps the garlic inside while rolling, and the peels stick to the tube while the garlic cloves comes out. This treasure keeps your hands from stinking, too!

3-TIER OVEN RACK: If your home is the frequent destination for family gatherings, then this item could be a big help. This tiered oven rack only takes up about half the space of your oven’s built-in racks, so you can cook several casseroles and dishes at once while still having room for that huge turnkey! This is a genius idea.

Every kitchen tends to be a magnet for weevil, no matter how clean you are. Research says it’s common to bring ‘em home from the grocery store. These cookie and cracker-keepers are air-tight, have tight-fitting lids, and simply won’t let those pesky weevils in. First, says the same research, place boxes and bags of any grain products in your freezer for 3 to 4 hours, then remove the product from its packaging and relocate to these containers. These are also handy if you live in a humid climate and deal with your cookies and crackers going stale on you.

IN-DRAWER KNIFE ORGANIZER: For the lucky duck that has plenty of drawer space, this tool is just awesome. You can keep your knives organized and out of site with a knife organizing and storage tray that fits perfectly in a drawer. And not only does this keep your knives organized and handy, but it protects their edges as well.

HANDS-FREE BAG HOLDER: Who doesn’t need an extra set of hands now and then? Especially when trying to fill your plastic freezer bags with foods that are easily spillable. This bag holder adjusts to fit most bags, and holds them open and steady while you fill. When you’re finished, it folds up for easy storage.

PARTY BOWLS ON ICE: Keep your vegetable or fruit trays and dips/dressings cold for long periods of time! This is especially helpful if you are attending a party and have quite a drive ahead of you.

This larger bowl is multi-purpose; it has a detachable divider, so you can also use it for salad or other cold dishes.

POT or BOWL CLIP: Finally, what a handy item for the buffet table or stove top. What to do with that dripping spoon? How about a clip that allows you to rest your utensils right over the pot or bowl!? It will keep the stovetop or buffet table cloth clean and your spoon handy.
