Fran's Potato/cheese/corn Chowder

   _ tablespoons butter or margarine
   _ pounds potatoes 1 lb grated, 4 lbs diced
   ___ cup celery diced
   _ cup carrots diced
   _ onion minced
   _ pounds grated cheese
   _ cans cream style corn
   _ cans corn whole or frozen
   _ pound sausages sliced
   _ quart chicken stock
   _ cup dry milk powder not mixed up
   _ can cream of mushroom soup
   _ teaspoon black pepper
   _ tablespoon seasoned salt
   _ teaspoons basil


Add all ingredients to crockpot (brown the sauage first), except the milk powder and cheese. Cook on HIGH 10 hours.
Add the milk powder and grated cheese the last 30 minutes.
If the chowder is too thin, you can remove some of it and put through the blender to thicken, if it is too thick, add water. Adjust seasonings if desired. Serve with bread or crackers.
