Groundhog Day Delights!

Now that my kids are getting older, I’m starting to really get into those little obscure holidays that aren’t really that big a deal- unless you make them that way ;). This next week is February 2, otherwise known as Groundhog Day! So of course I had to find some cute food ideas to go along with it! Especially because it’s been so cold and snowy and everyone’s been sick- we need some fun things to do at home ;). If you’re in the same boat, check out these fun (and cute!) Groundhog Day food ideas.

Usually, cute treats aren’t hard to come up with, but an actual meal can be more of a challenge. But Pinterest delivered ;). Here’s an adorable meal you can make that I think my kids will really get a kick out of:

Seriously, how silly and adorable are these? I like that you can use a variety of bases! For the groundhogs, cut little circles at the top of the hot dog (ears) and prop them up with toothpicks while you bake the hot dogs at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Then using olives, cheese, and whatever assortment of tools you want (kitchen shears, even a hole punch!), create the eyes, nose, and little teeth. Then stick them in their burrow and enjoy!

You can also go a little more simple, but still unique and fun without going the treat route- try a pancake or a sandwich!

These both look like simple but adorable ways to incorporate the holiday! And really, you could do all 3 of these meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you really wanted to go all out! My kids would go crazy :).

And of course, there are so many options for goodies. For starters, I love these adorable cupcakes! Just use an assortment of candies and you’re set!

The kid in me is a HUGE fan of pudding cups, and there are tons of ways to use them for Groundhog Day! You could go very simple and just use Teddy Grahams (it’s not like my little kids really know what a groundhog is anyway ;) ), or you can get a little more intense and use Nutter Butters or Milano cookies.

They all would be adorable. And tasty! I can’t say no to pudding :).

None of these ideas would take a ton of effort, and they’re all pretty easy on the budget- these would be a great way to add a little extra fun to the daily routine, especially at a time of the year that could use a little extra brightening up!
