Easy Christmas Tree Brownies

I have several friend and family parties on the calendar this month, and I want something pretty AND delicious to bring! The perfect place to search for inspiration: Pinterest of course! Within just a few minutes, I came across this cute idea that is easy and appeals to party guests of all ages. Brownies and frosting with a theme!

To complete this recipe, you’ll need a box of brownies ( I love Betty Crocker fudge!) a tub of vanilla frosting, green food coloring, round sprinkles to look like ornaments, and candy canes for the trunk of the Christmas trees.

Start off lining your baking dish with foil and spray if desired. Then make the brownies and bake as directed. Let the brownies totally cool since you’ll be adding frosting and don’t want it to melt! Now cut the brownies into triangles, by slicing them into 3 rows and then cutting diagonals.

Get a child to help you unwrap the candy canes (and expect a few to disappear!) and then cut or break them into 1.5-2” pieces. Push the candy canes up into the brownie.

Now it’s time to prep the frosting! You can either start with green frosting or using 30-40 drops of dye, turn your vanilla frosting green. Now spoon it into a bag and snip the edge of the bag off. Start with just a little snip, you can always cut a larger hole if needed. Pipe the frosting onto the brownies as displayed in the picture, beginning at the top of the tree and zig zagging down the tree. Add your favorite sprinkles/ornaments and ta-da! You’re a Christmas star!

These are a quick, cheap and fun dessert to bring to a kid party or even a mom’s night out event. Thanks Pinterest for pulling through again with a cute and doable holiday dessert!
