White Lasagna

Ingredients

8 ounces lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 cup finely chopped celery
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons basil
1 teaspoon oregano
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup light cream
3 ounces cream cheese, cubed
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded gouda cheese
1 egg, beaten
12 ounces cottage cheese
12 ounces mozzarella cheese, sliced

Directions:

Cook noodles to al dente. Brown meat and drain grease. Add celery, onion, and garlic. Cook until done. Add herbs, cream, and cream cheese. Cook over low heat to melt cream cheese. Add wine and gradually add Cheddar and Gouda cheeses, stirring until nearly melted. Remove from heat.

Stir egg and cottage cheese together. In greased 9x13-inch pan, layer one-half of each: noodles, meat, cottage cheese, and mozzarella. Repeat layers. Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 375° oven for 30–35 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. May be prepared ahead. Freezes well.

Sculpted by Gutzon Borglum and later by his son Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 60-foot sculptures of the heads of former United States presidents (in order from left to right) George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Construction on the memorial began in 1927, and the presidents’ faces were completed between 1934 and 1939.
