TIPS FOR WORKING WITH CHILDREN:
* To help alleviate your children's fears, have an evening when you hold a dinner by candlelight or kerosene lantern. This will give your children something positive to remember when stressful times occur. You should also show children where the flashlights are around your home and teach them to use them if there ever is a power outage.
* Have your children shop for their own items (crayons, coloring books) for their Emergency Kit. Make sure they know that these items are not toys and are to only be used during an emergency. When you rotate the food in your kits every six months, rotate the toys and supplies as well.
* Once the family planning is complete, don't dwell on the subject, but do review the plans periodically.
