Black Forest Trifle

Serves: 17

Ingredients

1 (19.8-ounce) package fudge brownie mix
1 (3.5-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/4 cup coffee or chocolate-flavored liqueur (optional)
1 can cherry pie filling (you will use only about 2/3 of can)
1 (12-ounce) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Garnish: chocolate curls, mini-chocolate morsels, or maraschino cherries

Directions:

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions for cake-like brownies in a 9x13x2-inch pan. Cool and crumble.

Prepare chocolate pudding according to package directions. Chill and divide in half. Place 1/2 crumbled brownies in bottom of a 3-quart trifle bowl; drizzle 1/2 of liqueur over brownies in the bowl. Dot with 1/3 of the cherry pie filling (make sure some of them show through sides of bowl), layer with 1/2 pudding, then 1/2 whipped topping. Repeat layers: brownies, liqueur, cherries, pudding, and whipped topping. Garnish with 1 - 2 of the items listed for garnishing. Chill 8 hours.
