Lane’s Landing Jambalaya

Ingredients

4 slices bacon, chopped
1 pound fresh Italian sausage
1 large yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped, mashed
3 potatoes, peeled, quartered
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup Donax (bean clams) broth
4 medium tomatoes, skinned
1 tablespoon sweet basil
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 large bay leaves
3 cups water
1 cup rice, uncooked
2 cups raw shrimp, peeled
1 cup blue crabmeat, picked

Directions:

Fry bacon in large heavy skillet. Remove bacon, and wipe pan clean before browning thick slices of sausage. Add onion, garlic, potatoes, and green bell pepper; lightly sauté. Return bacon to pan, and add remaining ingredients except shrimp and crabmeat. Simmer until potatoes are tender. add shrimp and crabmeat. Continue to cook until shrimp are fully pink. Serve in bowls along with hot French bread.
