Mall Walking

Serves: 3

Ingredients

Directions:

So the weather outside is frightful. It’s too hot, humid, cold, snowy or icy. Or it could be there are no sidewalks to walk on or no safe area in which to walk. If so, join the recent craze of indoor mall walking at your favorite large shopping center.

Most large complexes open a designated set of outside doors before hours individual stores are usually not open. Check with your local mall for walking hours and the mileage for one round around the perimeter of the mall. Of course you can walk around the mall anytime during open hours, but you may
not be able to walk as quickly and may have to stop and start a number of times due to crowds.

If a walking group hasn’t already been established, start your own with friends or neighbors. If window shopping doesn’t suit you, try a radio or cassette headset to pass the time. Invest in shoes specifically designed for walking. If you’ve been walking for a while and want to boost your workout, consider trying ankle or hand weights to increase the difficulty.

In addition to malls, schools or athletic facilities may offer walking check with them and if they don’t, request that they consider starting a program.
