Measure saved pineapple juice in a 2-cup measure, adding enough water to equal 1 1/3 cups. Make cake per package directions using juice/water mixture instead of all water. Bake in greased 11x15-inch baking pan about 18–22 minutes till springy. While baking, mix butter, sugar, vanilla, and pineapple, adding more sugar for consistency, if needed. Spread over cooled cake. Decorate with cherry halves, if desired.
