Pecan Bars

Ingredients

2 1/3 cups flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups corn syrup dark
4 eggs large
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup pecans chopped

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.

In a medium bowl, mix 2 cups of the flour and sugar. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture evenly against bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of dish.

Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned.

Meanwhile, in a small mixer bowl at high speed, beat corn syrup, eggs, brown sugar, remaining 1/3 cup flour, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Pour over baked crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Reduce oven temperature to 325°.

Bake 60 minutes or until center is set. Cool dish on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Cover and store in a cool place.
