Blue Ribbon Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg large
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup almonds slivered

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°. Lightly grease cookie sheets.

Place flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl and stir set aside.

Place brown sugar, butter, and sugar in a large mixer bowl. With an electric mixer, beat at medium speed until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. At low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chips and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto cooki e sheets.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes* or until lightly browned. Place cookies on wire cooling racks to cool.

Store in an airtight container in a cool place.


*For chewy cookies, use the shorter baking time.
