Freezing Bread

Serves: 5

Ingredients

Directions:

To freeze a loaf of bread, seal the completely cooled loaf in an airtight plastic bag or wrap for freezing. You may want to slice the bread first to save thawing time later. Also, slicing makes it easy to remove just the number of sluices you need at a time. You can freeze bread up to two to three months. To thaw the bread, loosen the wrap and let it stand at room temperature about three hours. If you completely unwrap it before thawing, moisture collects and can make the bread soggy. Or to thaw a frozen bread machine loaf in the oven, wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and heat in an oven at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until thawed and warm.

Frozen bread slices can be thawed in the microwave. Heat each slice on High for about 15 seconds. Or pop frozen slices right into the toaster to thaw and toast in one easy step.

Coffee cakes, breadsticks and rolls also can be frozen after being cooled completely. We recommend not frosting or decorating before freezing. If you prefer to frost before freezing, be sure the frosting is dry and that a thin crust has formed so the frosting doesn't smear when being wrapped for the freezer. Seal tightly in an airtight plastic bag or wrap for freezing. You may want to slice coffee cakes before freezing so you can remove the number of slices you need, and slices will thaw more quickly. These breads well keep in the freezer for two to three months.

To thaw coffee cakes, breadsticks and rolls, let them stand loosely wrapped at room temperature tow to three hours. After they have collected on the surface to dry. Then frost or decorate as you wish.
