A Culinary Cruise Through Canada: Heavens Angels Ride Again!
A beard. A leather jacket. Seven buddies. Seven days. And a whole lotta good food.
Join us on a high-octane culinary adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Canada as we ride, eat, laugh, and occasionally… invent rootbeer floats.
The Ride Begins
To kick things off, we trailered our bikes for 12 hours to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. From there, the real adventure began—riding north into the majestic Canadian Rockies. Our stops? Cranbrook, Banff, Jasper, Prince George, and Williams Lake. Next up: Kamloops, Osoyoos, and then a final loop back to Coeur d’Alene.
To prep for the trip, I grew a beard and dusted off my leather jacket so I’d look the part. What do you think—do I pass the biker test?

Our gang name? Heavens Angels.

Fueled by Flavor
The food? Oh man.In Cranbrook, we hit up a gem called Ella's. Their Corn Ribs appetizer and Jamaican Goat were absolutely incredible. No surprise they have a 4.8-star rating with over 500 Google reviews.
And if you're craving 'some ting' different to drink… just ask for some Ting!

In Banff, I hesitated for a moment before trying the wild boar—but wow, was it worth it. Tender, flavorful, and surprisingly not too “gamey.”

The next day, I went a little lighter with a Niçoise Salad for lunch. Fresh, crisp, and satisfying.

Roman’s Helmet Hack
Now let’s talk about Roman.Apparently, when your head gets sunburned, wearing a motorcycle helmet and riding for 5 hours is no fun. So, Roman did what any resourceful biker would do…
He wore his napkin on his head.

It's the Sizzle!
While the taste of the food is important, sometimes the presentation is just as important. As they say, "it's the sizzle that sells the steak!" And, as you can see in this video, the steak was really sizzlin'!Eating delicious and unique foods is so fun!
One of the things that made the food experience so enjoyable was the setting. The weather has been beautiful and the views of Williams Lake during dinner this evening were glorious!
Rootbeer Revolution
This evening in Williams Lake, we rolled into A&W for some classic rootbeer floats… only to find out they’re not on the menu in Canada. So, Roman and I jumped on our bikes, rode to a local grocery store, bought two liters of vanilla ice cream, and came back to A&W to make our own. The folks at the next table asked what we were up to—so we offered to drop a scoop of vanilla ice cream into their mugs of rootbeer. Then another table asked. Pretty soon…
It was rootbeer floats for everyone.
One couple said, “I’ve never had ice cream in my rootbeer before.”
We joked that the employee in the back was calling corporate to report this revolutionary new idea.

The Sights Were Just as Tasty
The views on this ride? Absolutely unforgettable. We pulled over constantly to soak in the scenery—glacier-capped mountains, mineral-colored rivers, and mirror-like lakes.
As I rounded the bend and saw this massive mountain looming ahead with the glaciers at the top, I had to pull over and snap this picture. It was breathtaking!

Lake Louise looked just as stunning in person as it does on every postcard.

The view from the Fairmont Hotel in Banff? Breathtaking. (at $10,000 per night...it better be!...and no, we did not stay here...we just walked the grounds and shot this photo).

And the Banff Gondola? Worth every second. At the top, we could see forever.
I thought this sign was interesting. Wait...if human food kills wildlife...what does it do to the humans?
This was one of many of the glaciers that we saw. The glaciers and the minerals that flow out of them and color the rivers, lakes, and streams are breathtaking!
In addition to the delicious food and spectacular scenery, we saw lots of wildlife in Canada too!
Gratitude from the Road
As much as we came for the food, the real joy was in the shared laughter, the camaraderie, and the moments of awe and gratitude. I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the beauty of this world God created—both in nature and in people. With three days left to ride, who knows what meals—or memories—still await?
