A Treat without the Trick...

By Sydney Hill

I was casually checking my emails the other day and found one addressed from one of you! Linda gave me two great ideas to use in my articles this week (the other one is the pumpkin Rhodes rolls...a must see). I was so excited for two reasons:

The first being, they are great finds! This Halloween bark is a fun and easy idea that would work for a party or even for yourself. You could make it with the kiddies for fun, too—let them choose their own topping to add to the mix.

The second reason I was thrilled was because someone was thoughtful enough to go out of their way to share with me ideas (I was wondering what to write about and this relieved my stress level a ton) and they were thoughtful enough to want to share them. What a great way to serve, you probably don't know how much that meant to me or how helpful it all was. Thank you Linda!

Let's all try to be a little more like that. Not just the giving me ideas part ☺, I mean the part about thoughtfulness. Find people to serve and to help. We all need it in some way, and we can help others through their hard times, making us both happier (I know I am when I serve). Let's all try to find someone to help this week, whether you know them or not. I will too.

So, I totally full-heartedly meant what I said. But I mean this, too. Have fun making this bark: Maybe you could make it and take it to someone who needs a lift in their heart. This fun goodie and your thoughtfulness just might do the trick...or treat.

Halloween Bark

Serving size: 5
Calories per serving: 289

Ingredients:
1 package white almond bark
16 whole graham crackers
pretzel sticks, broken in half
Oreo's, chopped
Reese's Pieces
pistachios, chopped
mini chocolate chips
Other Misc Ingredients
miniature marshmallow (s)
candy corn
M&M's
colored sprinkles
cashew nuts
broken chocolate bar (s)

Directions:
Melt the almond bark over a double boiler (or just a metal bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Don’t let the boiling water touch the bowl.) Stir until smooth and allow to cool slightly.

Arrange whole graham crackers together on a rimmed baking sheet so that they're up against one another. Pour the melted almond bark over the top and use an offset spatula to spread it evenly over the surface.

Sprinkle on pistachios, chocolate chips, pretzels, and Reese's Pieces (along with anything else you'd like to add.) Lightly press all the ingredients with the palm of your hand to make sure they're all anchored on.

Place the pan in the fridge and allow it to set completely. Break the bark into smaller pieces. Serve on a platter or package in small cellophane bags.
