15 Tips to Make Life Easier

By Sydney Hill

•  If a cake mix recipe calls for flouring the pan, use some of the cake mix instead of flour to avoid the white dust on the cake.

•  Rub a raw potato on your hands to remove food stains.

•  If you put too much salt in a pot of something you're cooking, put in a peeled potato to absorb the excess.

•  Wrap celery in aluminum foil before putting it in the fridge and it will keep for weeks.

•  Add an apple to a bag or canister of brown sugar that has hardened and seal for a day or two.

•  When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to bring out the natural sweetness.

•  Add bread to a plastic container of cookies to soften them up again.

•  To see if an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks it's still good, but if it rises to the top, throw it away.

•  Try this for a headache, cut a lime in half and rub it on your forehead.

•  To open a hard-to-open jar, try latex dish washing gloves.

•  If you have a mosquito bite, rub the itchy area with soap.

•  Stuff a marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent dripping ice cream.

•  Use a meat baster to squeeze pancake batter and get a perfectly circle pancake.

•  Run your hands under cold water before pressing rice Krispie treats.

•  Spray your plasticware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato based sauces and their won't be stains.
