Here’s the Secret to the Best Coupon and Pizzas at Dominos

Domino’s gets thrown under the bus pretty frequently by people who really hate their pizza and consider it “crappy cardboard” pizza. During the beginning of the pandemic, we supported the comedian Mike Birbiglia  by attending his new comedy special over Zoom which revolved solely around pizza. And the main takeaway was how much he hates Dominos. He probably talked about his hatred for Domino’s pizza for a solid 30 minutes.

While I’m not exactly going to die on the hill proclaiming Domino’s is the best pizza in the world, Domino’s has been our family’s favorite fast food pizza option for a few years now.  It’s a good, solid, cheap option. The cheap part might be the biggest draw for us. For the price, we like it the best between its similar competitors--Little Caesar’s, Pizza Hut, and Papa Johns.

I felt the need to stick up for Domino’s a bit today and share a couple important things that will sell you on it forever! There are a couple things about Domino’s that I don’t think most people are aware of--like the secret to getting the very best deal with the best, hard-to-find coupon they offer. And I also wanted to share their two best crusts you might not have had the pleasure of trying yet.

You Have Got to Try These Two Kinds of Crusts

I like their regular hand-tossed standard crust just fine--the seasoning on it is so good! But there are two other kinds of crusts you have to try if you haven’t yet.

#1) Handmade Pan

My sister introduced me to what I am declaring the single best pizza at Domino’s: The Epic Philly Cheesesteak! Which has three toppings: Philly cheesesteak, green bell peppers and onions on the homemade pan crust with the garlic parmesan sauce. It is truly epic! I would never dream this slice of heaven came from Domino’s. I had never tried their pan crust before and it really does take it to another level. They claim it has two layers of cheese that go all the way to the edge. The crust has such a rich, butter flavor that you don’t get with the others and this combo of sauce and toppings really knocks this one out of the park! I don’t think you could go wrong trying your usual go-to toppings on this handmade pan crust. You’ll love it!

#2) Thin Crust

I also love getting a barbeque chicken pizza on their crunchy thin crust pizza. We get the chicken with bacon and onions on the crunchy thin crust with barbeque sauce. It is so good and unique! It is quite a large pizza as well, and is cut into easy-to-eat 3 inch by 3 inch squares. I think you should definitely get try the thin crust if you haven’t already and I highly recommend trying these toppings if BBQ chicken is your kind of jam.

The Coupon That Gets You the Best Deal

The best deal on their website, which I think they hide in there pretty deep to dissuade people from getting it, is the 3-topping, $7.99 large pizza deal. Now, there are five crust options you can choose from and not all of them are the large size, but the standard hand-tossed is. If you want the homemade pan crust I was talking about, you get a 3-topping medium (which I think is well worth it. Quality vs quantity kind of situation here!). Anyway, when you get to the main page on their website, don’t be tempted by the measly 2 topping medium pizza deal for $5.99 deal they try to ensnare you with. Move on over to the left side of the screen with the menu and click “coupons”. Then scroll way down to find the $7.99 coupon. Here is where you can choose from 5 different crusts and get the best deal. And don’t forget this last tip--if you are getting a cheese or pepperoni pizza with this deal, don’t forget that you can double the pepperoni and double the cheese since that is technically your three toppings--get the most bang for your buck with your simpler pizzas like cheese or pepperoni and double up on what you can!

Now I’ve got a couple of fun pizza questions for you today to get the conversation going. What are your rankings for “fast food” pizza places (ie. Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Little Caesar’s, Papa John’s, etc.)? And would you say that when you get pizza, do you get the cheaper fast food pizza or do you tend to favor a more expensive, tastier good local mom and pop spot?  And lastly, are you a fan of Domino’s? Do you have any specific toppings/combinations you’d recommend for others to try? Please share all your pizza rants and raves in the comments below.
