Christmas “Charcutewreath”

Doesn’t it just feel good to bring a showstopper dish to Christmas dinner? This “charcutewreath” will undoubtedly be the talk of the town at your event. It’s a centerpiece and delicious dish all in one!

Cynthia Baysinger is the creator of the charcuterie boards pictured here, and she’s given some tips that have helped me create beautiful and memorable boards too. Here are seven principles to follow as you build a holiday “charcutewreath” of your own!

  1. Begin with a round, wooden board to give it that warm wreath feel we are going for.
  2. Fresh greenery around the base is crucial. This steps up the “wreath” effect and makes everything smell delicious too! I recommend rosemary and/or eucalyptus.
  3. Start with cheeses. I always include Mancehgo, it’s a crowd favorite. Brie is classic, and I recommend Boursin or cheddar as well. Both kids and adults love it!
  4. For meats, use several small cups and arrange your salami or pepperoni in a rose shape for a floral feel. So festive!
  5. Consider adding more red foods like sugared cranberries, fresh raspberries, red grapes, strawberries or something peppermint!
  6. Use star cookies, or crackers shaped like Christmas trees to give it some extra holiday flare. I often find seasonal items like this at Trader Joes.
  7. Olives, pretzels, little jars of jam and honey are all good things to fill in spaces and make your wreath look bountiful!

I hope you enjoy these photos and top 7 tips for creating a work of art, and holiday appetizer simultaneously. Happy holidays to you!
