How to Host a Smore’s Party

With Memorial Day last weekend, summer is really upon us. It’s time to get outside and enjoy our lives with friends and family! A smore’s night is a fun way to get together with a low key purpose. It’s easy to assign out things for people to bring and contribute, and it’s also easy to just pick up all the ingredients on your own as the host.

Here is what I prepare for a backyard s’more party:

Marshmallows- You cant beat Kraft Jet Puffed marshmallows! I don’t always buy name brand, but I can really tell a difference with these! The extra large or rectangular shaped mallows have been a let down for me, so I stick with the classics!

Graham Crackers- People love a traditional s’more. I prefer unique, non traditional s’mores, but when you’re hosting an event you want to please the people. The newly packaged fresh stacks by Nabisco have all been cracked or broken for me! I just get regular full size graham crackers and break them in half myself, for easy prep!

Chocolate- Hershey’s is obviously the classic, but I prefer Trader Joes milk chocolate or even a Hershey’s symphony bar! Use what you have!

Oreo Thins- I love using these as a graham cracker substitute! I put one entire cookie on each side of the roasted mallow, and some fresh fruit in the middle!

Fresh fruit- Raspberries are my favorite, but sliced strawberries are also delicious! Just plate with the rest of the s’more gear and let your guests create! There is no wrong way to eat a s’more!

Wipes- This is maybe the most crucial ingredient of all! Your guests will get messy and sticky, they’ll need wipes! Wet Ones or baby wipes, you choose! Just come to the fire pit prepared!

Roasting Sticks- We have these great metal extendable roasting sticks, but with kids and marshmallows around, we opt for the cheap wooden skewers for this event instead.

Side Table/Staging Area- We pull around as many chairs as we have, and then use picnic benches and a side table to be the smore hub! Everyone knows where to come for a one stop shop to prepare their smore!

This is one of my favorite and easiest events to host. Being outdoors, the kids are free to run, the adults are entranced around the fire, and you have something fun and delicious to do! Keep in mind that a fire takes a while to die down enough to roast marshmallows, so time things accordingly! Let me know in the comments if you have more s’more ideas or host a successful party!
