Score a Touchdown With These Football Crowd-Pleasers!

When fall approaches, some of us get excited for pumpkins, crunching leaves, and Halloween, and some of us get excited for football.

We are in the thick of football season, and with good football, you’ve gotta have good food! There’s all kinds of dips and fun things you can make, and here’s a fun list of things you can make that actually look like footballs!

Cheeseballs are such a staple party food- they are delicious, easy, and go a long way! You can create a savory version- pizza ingredients is never a bad thing, right? Those mini pepperonis just make my mouth water looking at them! And if you’re not a fan of cheeseballs but love pepperoni, why not make a pizza and layer the pepperoni in a giant football shape? You can create the stitches with extra dough, olive slices, green onions, or whatever you’re craving.

Or you can satisfy your sweet tooth with a sweet cheeseball- peanut butter, crushed Oreos- there’s a whole variety of sweet routes you can take; just cover it with chocolate chips when you’re done and you have a “sweet” looking football dessert!

Pigs in a Blanket is one of the easiest comfort foods in the book, and creating a giant football from them might be the perfect way to ease your game day troubles!

If you’re craving something savory but don’t want to use the oven, why not try these adorable ham, cheese and cracker footballs? They require a little more detail since you’ll have to cut the meat and cheese in football shapes, but the result is totally worth it! (And to save some time, just use a small biscuit cutter to make two cuts to cut off the extra stuff on the sides (to create ovals) and this really shouldn’t take too much time at all!)

And how can we forget deviled eggs? They’re already in a nice oval shape for us, so just add some chives and you’ve got some adorable and delicious footballs to munch on!

And of course, there are many more possibilities with sweets! Rice krispie treats are perfect for shaping into footballs, and it would very simple to frost your brownies or cupcakes in such a manner that little footballs are formed :).

Chocolate covered almonds are the perfect football shape, so with a little creative frosting technique you can open up a bunch of possibilities! This particular picture shows fudge, but cake or frosted brownies would be super delicious as well! You could also throw them into a muddy buddy mix- because who doesn’t love muddy buddies? (And be sure to tie in your team colors by using colored candy melts instead of regular chocolate ;) ).

There really are so many ways to incorporate footballs into your game day food- cake pops with icing, ice cream sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries- really, as long as you can create stitches out of frosting, ranch dressing, cheese, etc. what couldn’t you make into a football? I’d love to hear your ideas!
