Decorate Your Autumn Kitchen on a Budget

I LOVE this time of year- the chill in the air, the beautiful colors, the anticipation of the holidays- it’s my happy time :). I want to be able to enjoy that fall feeling whether I’m outside or in my house, so I love adding some fall decor to my kitchen! Decorating can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be! If you’re on a tight budget but want to add a touch of fall to your kitchen, take a look at these ideas- many of them use things you probably already have at home!

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a must with fall decorating, right?? Grow them right in your garden for the ultimate cheap decoration ;). But you don’t have to just decorate with plain ol’ pumpkins! There are so many creative ways to make your pumpkins stand out a little more. I love this simple idea of layering small gourds in glass vases- simple, yet elegant.

Another easy way to doll up a boring pumpkin is to mod-podge a doily or two. So classy looking, and super easy to create! You could also experiment with different colors of spray paint- silver, creme, aqua- go crazy with whatever you have on hand!

Candy Corn

Candy corn is not just for eating! Fill up mason jars with candy corns (and/or those little candy pumpkins), sprinkle them along a table runner, layer them with other candies in a vase to create a unique centerpiece- just make sure you let your littles know they’re not for eating ;).

Don’t feel like you have to run out to the store to buy candy corn to get that cute candy look; a little rice with food coloring will do the trick and is about as cheap as you can get! Get enough rice to fill three mason jars and separate it into 3. Color ⅓ yellow, ⅓ orange, and leave ⅓ untouched. Layer them in the mason jars to create candy corn look-alikes, and top with little tea lights. Super easy, but cute and festive!

Leaves

Nothing says fall like beautiful colored leaves! But even the shape of a leaf will suffice; if you’ve got a little fabric paint, just go pick some leaves from your yard and make these beautiful towels! (You could turn this into a fun project with your kids, too!).

Another cute idea is to use some mod-podge to paste different colored leaves onto mason jars and place candles inside to create these handmade, festive lanterns! These just look so cozy!

If you’re REALLY handy with mod-podge, make this adorable leaf bowl! Just cover your favorite-shaped bowl in plastic wrap, and layer with leaves and mod podge- cheap and classy looking!! (And you’ll have everyone wondering how you got all those leaves to stay in place ;) ).

Dollar store leaves are also a great option if you just need a little touch of fall. While they can get expensive if you buy a ton, just getting 3 or 4 bunches of fall leaves to put in a vase won’t break your budget, but will add a beautiful fall touch to your kitchen table.

Nature

Why not bring a little of your backyard into the kitchen to create that autumn atmosphere? While leaves are obvious, there are plenty of other ways to add a touch of fall to your kitchen. Gather several small twigs and glue them to small glass containers for some cozy little lanterns!

Pinecones can be your best friend with the right tools! String them into a beautiful garland (with acorns if you can get them!), stack them in a large vase for a woody, beautiful centerpiece, or you can add a touch of spray paint for a more trendy look! Whatever you do, you can’t go wrong with pinecones!

As you can see, you don’t need a lot of money to create a festive, beautiful kitchen on a budget!
