Tastes Like Red Lobster (restaurant)

By Sydney Hill

I LOVE making these biscuits. They are fairly simple and turn out really good. I honestly can't say how close they are to the real thing, I've never actually been to red lobster (GASP, crazy, huh?). I got this recipe from someone a long time ago and it says "Red Lobster Biscuits" at the top. I'm sure it's a copycat, because when I make them they look like the pictures I'm seeing online!

Red Lobster Biscuits

Serving size: 5
Calories per serving: 514

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening or margarine
1 cup milk
3/4 cup Cheddar cheese
Topping
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Directions:
In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in shortening (or margarine), until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 3/4 cup grated cheese. Make a well in the center, add milk all at once. Stir just until dough clings together. Drop dough from a tablespoon onto a greased baking sheet, bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. When about 6 minutes, use a pastry brush and coat the tops. Put back in the oven until lightly golden.

I did it differently yesterday when I made these (again tee hee). I actually cooked them for about 10 minutes then brushed them with the butter when they were out of the oven. I think I liked it better that way.
