The RIGHT Way to Tie Your Shoes (Most of Us Do It Wrong!)

By Sydney Hill

I was utterly shocked when I found out that the bunny ears I had been tying since the first grade were... wrong. That's right, one of my greatest accomplishments was wrong all along. I only discovered this last week. Someone approached me and said "You have to see this. Most people tie their shoe wrong."

I thought maybe they were joking, or it was going to be something funny, because how could it be wrong? It's the bunny ears, we've all been doing it, our shoes stay on our feet, right?

Well, sad to say, it's not a joke. It's 100 percent real. But, we can look at the bright side. It shows us we're never too old to learn, and new things come about all the time. We live in a world with amazing minds.

It would be hard to describe through writing, but the main idea is that you're making a square knot, which is definitely a stronger knot. When those bunny ears get tied, they should lay horizontally, not vertically, on your shoe. In the above picture, the shoe shown on the right is wrong, and the one on the left is correct. You've just got to see it for yourself. Here's the short video that blew my mind:

For those of you who have been tying them right this whole time, Congratulations! You're ahead of most of the population. Once you learn, share it. I've given a lesson already. It's a fun fact, and hey, I'm ready for my shoes to stay on even without the double knot.
