"Skinning" Pearl Onions

We received this no-tears onion tip from "Elsiehacker": I love those little fresh pearl onions, but they were so hard to peel. So I got to thinking--there has to be an easier way. When I was little, my mom used to can tomatoes, beets, etc. from our garden. I remembered her briefly placing them in boiling water and then cold shocking them to easily removed the skin of the tomatoes and the outer layers of the beets. This works great with pearl onions, too. I cut off the top and bottom beforehand and the peel just slips right off.
