Orange Raisin Scones with Orange Butter

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup golden raisins
2 eggs, used separately
4-6 tablespoons half and half

Orange Butter:
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons orange marmalade

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°. In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and orange peel. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in raisins, 1 egg, lightly beaten, and enough half-and-half to just moisten mixture.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times. Roll into 9-inch circle. Cut into 8–12 wedges. Place on cookie sheet one inch apart. Brush with remaining beaten egg. Bake 10–12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

For Orange Butter:
Make Orange Butter by mixing together butter and marmalade until combined. Serve with warm scones.
