It was one woman's personal experience with the tremendous frustrations of diets that led to the important discovery that could change our entire approach to food, eating, health, and fitness. Discouraged by her own battles with excess fat and the futility of diets, Dana Thornock has spent seventeen years studying obesity and experimenting with methods for controlling it. From that study has emerged a revolutionary new key to successful weight control: eating abundantly!

Dana learned that diets actually promote fat gain because the body has an instinctive survival system that works to store fat when it feels threatened by starvation. And dieting signals starvation! So she experimented by gradually increasing her intake of "healthy" calories from 1,000 a day to between 2,000 and 3,500. The result was dramatic. She dropped from size 18 to size 4, where she has remained ever since, even withstanding two pregnancies and extreme stress in her life.

Dana shared her discoveries in the 1988 bestseller Eat and Be Lean and in lectures and classes that have freed thousands of others from the tyranny of fat and diets. She then used her teaching experiences and new discoveries in medical science to refine, simplify, and expand her program. The result is the Dana Thornock Lean & Free 2000 Plus Weight Control System, the most effective and advanced weight control system available.

Unlike diets, the Lean & Free 2000 Plus program doesn't deprive-it provides! Dana has learned through years of experience that keeping all foods under 20% fat becomes bland, restrictive, and boring. Dana has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis in nutrition. She is a popular lecturer and advisor to many government, corporate, health, and educational institutions. She has been a "low-bounce," "maximum fat loss" aerobics instructor for twelve years. She and her first husband Nyle were married in 1978 and had four sons together. Nyle passed away in 1989 and two years later Dana remarried. She and her current husband, Marty, have eight children together--seven sons and one daughter.
