Homemade Tortilla Chips

Yield: 32 chips

Ingredients

4 soft flour tortillas
1 vegetable oil for deep-frying
1 coarse sea salt for sprinkling
1 paprika, Cajun seasoning, or chili powder for sprinkling (optional)

Directions:

Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges. Add tortilla wedges in batches to hot oil and deep-fry until light golden brown. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt and paprika, if desired.

Fun Fact: Tortilla chips are usually considered to be a Mexican food, but did you know that they were actually first mass-produced in Los Angeles, California, in the late 1940’s?
