Asian Fondue

Ingredients

1 pound boneless tender beef, or other meat
1 (8-ounce) can bamboo shoots
5 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
few drop Tabasco hot pepper sauce
2 pounds vegetable shortening

Directions:

Cut the meat into paper-thin slices. Cut the bamboo shoots into matchstick pieces. Marinate bamboo shoots in soy sauce mixed with sherry for 1 to 2 hours. Brush the beef with Tabasco, top with 2 or 3 pieces of bamboo shoot and roll up. Spear on fork and cook in hot shortening until brown. Use spicy sauces as accompaniments.
