Sausage And Rice Medley

Ingredients

1 pound sausage or ground beef
1 (7 1/4-ounce) package herb and butter rice and pasta mix with seasoning packet
1/2 cup celery chopped
1/2 cup onion chopped
2 3/4 cups water
1 (9-ounce) package frozen italian green bean
4 ounces Cheddar cheese shredded (about 1 cup, optional)

Directions:

Crumble meat into a deep 10-inch skillet or 3-quart saucepan that has a tight-fitting lid. Without the lid over medium-high heat, brown meat. Remove meat with a slotted spoon set aside.

In remaining fat and juices, saute rice and pasta mix (reserving seasoning packet), celery and onion until rice is golden brown and vegetables are soft. Stir in water, meat and Italian beans. Bring to a boil reduce heat to low, cover tightly and simmer for 15 minutes. Stir in seasoning packet from rice mix. Cook, uncovered, 10 minutes longer or until water is absorbed and Italian beans are tender.

To serve, transfer to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with cheese.

Note: If you use a different seasoned rice mix, check package for amount of liquid and length of cooking time required.
