Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

6 eggs beaten
2 cups sugar + 6 tablespoons
4 cups milk
3 cups whipped cream
2 cups half and half
2 tablespoons vanilla extract + 1 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon salt


Combine eggs and sugar beat well. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into ice cream freezer can. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.

* In most recipes the eggs and milk are cooked like a pudding, but the above recipe is the way my mother made ice cream. Once I made the pudding type, and my family refused to eat it.
