Chocolate Banana Cream Pie

Ingredients

3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 eggs beaten
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 bananas large
1 9-inch Butter Pecan Pie Crust (see below)
whipped cream
Additional chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, stir sugar, flour and salt. Gradually stir in milk until mixture is smooth. Over medium heat, cook and stir until mixture boils and boil for 2 minutes. Gradually stir about one-third of the hot mixture into the eggs, then stir back into hot mixture in saucepan. Stirring, bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips, butter or margarine, and vanilla until chocolate is melted. Slice bananas into cooled crust. Pour chocolate mixture over top. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight. Just before serving, garnish with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
