Butterscotch Squares

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup walnuts chopped
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup brown sugar packed
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

At least 1 1/2 hours or up to 1 day before serving:

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, stir flour, oats, nuts, chips, baking powder and salt set aside.

In a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter or margarine. Remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar until melted. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture and stir until all ingredients are moistened. Spread evenly in baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until top is set and golden brown. Place on a wire rack. When cool, cut into squares with a sharp knife. Cover tightly with foil.
