Basic Vanilla Creme

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

In a medium bowl, whisk butter or margarine, corn syrup and vanilla until smooth. With a rubber scraper, gradually work in powdered sugar until mixture is no longer sticky.

Use immediately as filling for molded candies Or shape into 3/4 -inch balls and roll in chopped nuts. Or shape into 3/4 -inch balls, lightly cover and let stand overnight or until a crust forms before dipping Store in airtight containers.

Flavored Creme: To 1/4 cup Basic Vanilla Creme, add 1/8 teaspoon additional extract of your choice and 1 drop food color. If desired, add 1 tablespoon chopped nuts.

Cherry Creme: To 1/4 cup Basic Vanilla Creme, add 1 tablespoon chopped maraschino cherries that have been dried with paper towels. Work in additional powdered sugar until mixture is no longer sticky.
